For the many reasons we enjoy wine, offering the occasional reality escape is a fair ask of our wine indulgence. Perfect for season and cheaper than a travel exemption, our latest Malbec find from the snow capped mountains of Mendoza Argentina, is our value red import of the year. It’s half Malbec and half Bonarda to add structure and crunch, and made by Paso a Paso, meaning “Step by Step” to signpost your way out of lockdowns.
Locally, when Paul Scorpo came in store a few months back with his high density wines we were blown away by the finesse and class of both 2018 Pinot Noir and 2019 Chardonnay. They are stunning, absolute top of class, made for now or later. Meanwhile from the Cellar we’ve pulled a stonker – 10-year old Rioja Riserva sourced from 18 high elevation vineyards around the village of Haro. It’s the pocket right now, drinking beautifully – let’s go to Spain!
