“THE WINE COLLECTIVE IS JUST THAT – A COLLECTIVE. A MEETING POINT, A COLLABORATION, A NETWORK THAT GOES BEYOND A SHOP FRONT.”
With a winemaking heritage that stretches back ten generations to the 1670s…Red Hill Wine Collective founder Tom Portet was born with a wine philosophy in his blood.
His first vintage was on Bordeaux’s left bank in Margaux, where 25 years earlier his grandfather André Portet ran the esteemed Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. His father, one of the very first international flying winemakers’, chose Australia as the future – now established at Dominique Portet Winery in the Yarra Valley. This is where Tom refined his wine making and business foundations.
Studies in Agricultural Science and Commerce at Melbourne University, built into a world leading MBA from HEC Paris. This was rounded with a practical education making wine in the Rhone Valley, Champagne, Napa Valley and Cognac.
